
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 to May 7 in 2010) was an American actress, singer , and dancer in films in the 1940s, 1950s, and in television during the 1950s, 1960s, and later. Adele St. Mara was her professional name. She received a contract from Columbia Pictures[citation required].] and gained experience with the studio's comedy shorts as well as "B" features. The name was later changed to Adele Mara. One of Mara's first roles was as a receptionist in the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara as well as Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character in the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. Brooks plays Alias Boston Blackie (1942), as the sister to the wrongfully accused and exiled prisoner. She moved to Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was removed. The studio specialized in westerns and outdoor adventures. She appeared in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch starring John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima in which John Agar was John's love interestwas played by her, California Passage, and Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
