Amanda Brugel

Brugel is the only Canadian part of the cast for Season 1 and was barely seen. In Season 2, she had become a series regularly scheduled and has been a member of the cast ever since. When asked about her role in the show and if there was any parallels with her life before the cameras, Brugel stated that she drew on her own experiences with racism to relate to the way in which Marthas are treated. "I don't just use the same experience in her position as Martha, but also in her personal life as Martha but as I've said, past moments when I'm feeling like I'm held back by situations because of race." My race has never caused me to suffer physical injuries through my entire life, but verbal abuse is something I've experienced. In the show I'll make use of any type of racial epithets or slurs that have caused me to feel as if someone hit me. It's almost like I punch the character in every scene. Amanda Amanda Amanda
